Thomas (Tim) Creal II
Golf, Class of 2010
Tim Creal was a standout multi-sport athlete at Warren High School from 1927 to 1930, excelling in football, track and field, baseball, and golf. He played several backfield positions for Hall of Fame Coach J.B. Leidig and was a key member of the undefeated 1928 Warren Dragons football team, which finished with a perfect 12-0 record. Known for his speed, passing, and leadership, Creal later served as quarterback and signal caller for the 1930 team. In track and field, he competed in multiple sprint events and the 440-yard run, helping set a school record as part of the championship mile relay team. He also played baseball for the Dragons.
Creal went on to develop an exceptional golf career, winning 19 Conewango Valley Country Club championships and finishing as runner-up 10 times. He recorded 10 holes-in-one and once defeated National Open Champion Julius Boros by a stroke in a USO benefit event. In 1949, at age 36, Creal qualified for the prestigious U.S. National Amateur Golf Championship after finishing second in the regional qualifier at Oakmont. During a practice round at Oak Hill Country Club, he set a course record with a remarkable 64 before facing former national champion Skee Riegel in the first round. Creal also competed in a 1946 professional-amateur event alongside CVCC professional Toby Lyons, where they faced a young Arnold Palmer. His accomplishments across multiple sports established him as a memorable figure in Warren County athletics.
