Jake Kingston
Soccer, Class of 2010
Jake Kingston was a standout multi-sport athlete at Warren Area High School from 1994 to 1996, excelling in soccer, football, and baseball. As a member of Warren’s newly established soccer program, Kingston scored 50 goals and recorded 15 assists in just 40 matches over his three-year career. Playing central midfield, he served as team captain during his junior and senior seasons and led the Dragons with 20 goals as a senior despite missing four matches because of injury. During his career, Warren compiled an impressive 39-6-3 record and captured its first Tri-County Athletic Conference championship in 1996. That season, the Dragons also advanced to the District 10 playoffs for the first time, defeating Slippery Rock in the semifinals on a dramatic fourth-overtime goal by Kingston after 108 minutes of play.
Kingston remains 12th on Warren’s all-time scoring list. On the football field, he was an exceptional kicker and punter, tying the school record with a 47-yard field goal and earning Associated Press Third-Team All-State honors as a senior in 1996. He also played two seasons of baseball for Warren and posted an outstanding 11-3 pitching record during his three years of American Legion baseball.
Kingston continued his soccer career at Gannon University, where he played four seasons as an outside back and defensive midfielder for the Golden Knights. He served as team captain during his senior year and helped lead Gannon to the East Coast Athletic Conference championship finals in 2000. Following college, Kingston remained involved in the sport as an assistant coach for Gannon’s men’s soccer team in 2001 and 2002 and as head coach of Warren’s girls junior varsity soccer teams in 2002 and 2003.
From 2006 to 2009, he played for Hadleigh United Football Club, a semiprofessional soccer team in England, where his performance earned him the club’s Manager’s Player of the Year award for the 2007-08 season. Kingston’s accomplishments as a player, captain, and coach reflect his lasting contributions to Warren County soccer and his success across multiple sports.
